I suggest skipping today's judging in the Tourney of Books, in which the fantastic The Disreputable History of Frankie Landau Banks gets the inevitable bad reading, from someone who's about as far from the target audience as possible. T'was inevitable.
On the other hand, the commentary from Kevin Guilfoile and John Warner is well worth reading. They actually got it.

The phrase “I tended to find myself nodding along with parts of Caitlin Flanagan’s essay in December’s Atlantic” was nearly enough to put me right off reading anything else that guy had to say. Which, sure, isn’t the nicest, most well-thought-out reaction, but really, that essay made me want to break things. A lot of things. (I should just know better, by now, than to read a word she writes.)
Truer words have never been typed. I can’t seem to stop myself either–I think it’s because it seems impossible Flanagan could get any worse. But She Always Manages To.
