- If I owe you e-mail, you really will get a response in the next day or so. I'm determined to catch up.
- An essay by Guillermo del Toro and Chuck Hogan about the eternal appeal of the vampire.
- Julius Lester waxes wise on the Gates incident and the beer summit.
- N.K. Jemisin writes about describing characters of color, beginning with a fascinating discussion of the differences between the U.K. and U.S. versions of the first Harry Potter book in this regard.
- The new GORGEOUS online version of the Vermont College of Fine Arts' journal Hunger Mountain is now, well, online, and even has a new YA & children's section stuffed with wonderful things (including essays by Sara Zarr and Rita Williams-Garcia, to name just two). Also not to miss? Chapter one of one Ross Angelella's novel Alpha House (which I somehow didn't realize was YA/see also: his latest entry). Basically: I am outrageously impressed by this journal's latest issue.
- Go congratulate Patrick on acquiring a certain fabulous agent.
